June 9, 1944 - December 11, 2024
June Rosemary Stanley of Roanoke, VA, born in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 80, after a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Victor Lewis and Ethel May Hall Lewis, and by her niece, Sharon Waterworth.
June worked many years in the Roanoke area, Colorado, and Louisiana as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She is survived by husband, Steven B. Stanley; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Traci Wills; daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Jeff Cherifi; grandson, Phillip Wills and his wife, Abby, and great-grandson, Gavin Wills; and granddaughter, Alexa McCauley and her husband, Jordan; and granddaughter, Nicole Wills.
Special thanks to Carilion Hospice nurse, Denyse, and other members of the hospice team for the care they provided these last months.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Oakey's North Chapel. Condolences may be shared at www.Oakeys.com.

I am so saddened to learn of June's passing. I met June many years ago when she provided in-home care for my Dad (affectionately known by his caregivers as Mr. G). June quickly became "family", providing compassionate care, comfort and love to my Dad as well as to me. June will always hold a special place in my heart. Praying for comfort for her family and friends during this sad and difficult time. RIP June.
