Kathleen Witt Obituary

Kathleen Diane Witt

February 28, 1946 - May 2, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Diane Witt, who died on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 79. A beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Kathy brought strength, intelligence, and laughter into the lives of all who knew her.

Born on February 28, 1946, in Eastport, NY, Kathy was the second of four children born to Gladys Dyke Raynor and George Dyke.

Kathy was someone who waved at babies, always kept treats for neighborhood dogs, would wink when she made a joke, and had stacks of unread books. She exuded such kindness and helpfulness that people would ask for her help in grocery stores, though she was never formally employed by Kroger. She was so loved by friends, neighbors, and former colleagues from Lewis Gale and Carilion and held them all close to her heart.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father George; her husband, Danny; and her son, Damian.

She is survived by her children, Justin, Brendan, and Danielle (Ben); grandchildren, Aidan and Bailey; her mother, Gladys Raynor; sister, Gail Macomber (Steven); brothers, Robert Dyke and Ronald Dyke (Paula); stepbrother, Glenn Raynor (Mary); stepsister, Diane; dozens of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A viewing will be held at Oakey's South Chapel on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Oakey's South Chapel, where family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Kathy's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to RAM House, the Roanoke Public Library Foundation, or to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared at www.Oakeys.com.

I knew her as Kathy. Had the pleasure of working with her at Carilion. I saw both the serous and funny side of her. She knew her stuff!! She always called me Deb instead of Deborah.

Blessings to the family.
