Kimberly Vass Obituary

Kimberly Dawn Vass, 49, of Salem, VA sadly left us on 4/1/24 following a long, courageous fight with cancer surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly but her light just made Heaven a little bit brighter today. Kimberly was the true definition of a family person and always put others before herself, even after death by donating her body to science to potentially help future doctors. Kimberly is survived by her husband Matt; a son Dominic; a daughter Bella; parents Jim and Yvonne Simons; sisters Michelle Shakespeare and Amie Ingelido; and many nieces, aunts, and uncles. Per Kimberly's wishes, there will not be any funeral or memorial services although she will never be forgotten.

Kim was truly one of a kind. She always put family first. She was very giving, always trying to make someones life better. Kim bravely fought aggressive breast cancer and beat it. Kim was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in the fall of 2023. She became wheelchair bound in October, 2023. She spent the last 6 months between doctor visits, and living and sleeping in her love seat. Her mom spent the last few months sleeping beside Kim, as she needed constant care. Kim helped plan the Christmas dinner, and we all enjoyed the exchanging of gifts. Kim was dealing with lymphoma and much pain, yet, she was strong, and tried not to let on. She wanted a family photo for Christmas, so we had one made. Kim had a love for God that always was present. Her light shined wherever she went. Kim will be greatly missed, however, this is only temporary for those that believe in Jesus. We love you Kim. Dad

My darling ,daughter. Words can never express the void that's in my heart right now. You were always a big part of me. I will truly miss hearing my phone ring 10 plus times aday and taking our vacations together. You were my best friend and I will miss our time together, but you have given me so many beautiful memories to carry me through till we are together again. And the way time is flying by, it won't be long. As a mother , I couldn't be happier to know that you are healed, happy ,and enjoying your life with our Lord and Savior. JESUS CHRIST. I love you Kim and thank you for being the daughter you were. I was so very proud of you. Your light shined to all that knew you. The biggest praise I could ever give to you is the love you had for others. Made me want to be a better person. You were a gift and a blessing to all that knew you. Love you, honey. I will miss you, but I'll talk to you everyday and you'll always be right here with me, living in my heart.
