Patsy Peters Obituary

Patsy Peters

April 19, 1946 - November 27, 2022

"She is more precious than jewels. Nothing you desire can compare with her." Proverbs 3:15

On November 27, 2022, God called home our precious Patsy.

Patsy Elizabeth Simpson Peters was born on April 19, 1946 in Clifton Forge, Va. to the late George Oakley and Annie Lee (Sours) Simpson. Patsy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joe, and daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Lenny (Luongo). She also leaves behind her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Wayne and Catherine Simpson and Ronald Lee and Dreama Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Sue Simpson Buckner and her brother, George "Rudy" Oakley Simpson Jr. Patsy also has many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that loved her dearly including Mike, Natasha, Ashby and Austin Greenway.

Patsy retired from Wells Fargo in 2006 after a career that spanned more than 25 years. She and Joe enjoyed many travels in their retirement in their fifth wheel travel trailer with their treasured pets. Some of their favorite spots were Douthat State Park, Gatlinburg, Myrtle Beach and the gulf coast of Florida. Patsy loved the mountains and the ocean and enjoyed sitting on the beach watching the sunrise. She was a wonderful cook and relished hosting holiday gatherings at her home. She was a member of Community Advent Christian Church and was very active in her church community. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, assisting with upward sports and attending church service and always looked forward to TeaTime.

Patsy was a devoted wife and mother and dearly loved Joe, Amy and Lenny, and they dearly loved and adored her. She lived her life with spunk and grace and humor and love. She trusted God and held her faith deep in her heart. Patsy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018, and she handled her disease like she handled life - with strength and dignity and grace. As her disease progressed, her family's presence and vigil brought her peace and comfort. It is impossible to capture the life she lived, the difference she made, the love she shared...in just a few paragraphs. She was a remarkable woman, and our hearts are broken. We miss her dearly and will forever.

The family offers their sincere appreciation to the teams at Hilltop and Blue Ridge Hospice for the love and care they gave Patsy in the final months of her life. Even in the late stage of her disease, she showed everyone love and kindness.

A celebration of life will be held at noon on December 10, 2022, at Community Advent Christian Church, 4512 Old Mountain Road, NE, Roanoke, VA 24019. The family will receive friends beginning one hour before the service.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Angels of Assisi (415 Campbell Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016) or Blue Ridge Hospice (333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601).

Arrangements are being handled by Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, Va.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." Proverbs 31:25
