I played little league baseball with Randy and played 100´s of rounds with him at Brookside. He was a straight up great man. Rest in peace my friend

It didn´t matter what Randy was assigned... Va Tech and VMI sports, auto racing, golf, or even a high school event on a Friday night, the story became a treasure to enjoy over and over again because of his unique style.
Randy, you had that flare that readers love for decades and those of us who are readers, writers, and editors will tell you, it was a job well done. Thank you for your efforts. Rest in Peace, my friend .

Randy covered women´s golf in Roanoke with equal aplomb and enthusiasm as he did the men´s tournaments. We felt so special to be interviewed by Randy and miss his contribution to Roanoke sports coverage.

Randy, you are the man!! You always had my back! Our "off the record" conversations about downtown Blacksburg always stayed "off the record!" I´ll gladly say, on behalf of all Tech players and coaches, we LOVED having you around! My Clifton Forge posse was always a big fan as well!
Rest in peace, my friend. You certainly deserve it.

Great memories of hanging with Nappy at Radford, the days of the "staff car", Clydesdales etc.
What guy!

I did not know Randy King, but I felt like I did because of his highly relatable and entertaining skill in sports reporting. I thoroughly enjoyed his columns. Condolences to his family and friends.

What a loss for area golf. One of my greatest honors was introducing him the night he was inducted into the Roanoke Valley Golf Hall of Fame. He was, simply put, the best. He gave so many hours to golf reporting on it. To his family, I´m truly sorry. RIP Randy.
