Richard Charles Krause

August 10, 1951 - March 15, 2025

Richard Charles Krause, 73, a loving Husband, Father, Pawpaw, Brother, and Son, passed away at his home, with his wife by his side, on March 15, 2025, following an extended illness.

He served with The United States Navy for six years as an electronic technician. On the USS VOGE DE/FF 1047. Also served two years with The Army Reserves. He was a proud Veteran.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles J and Carmelia Krause; daughter, Elizabeth Krause; and his sisters, Sandra and Sharon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patty, of 45 years; his sons, Richard Jr (Jasmine), Matthew (Samantha); grandsons, Jacob Barger and Tristan Shell. Loyal loving companion, Abby. Siblings, Carmelia, Barbara, Beverly, Charlie, Bonnie, and Raymond. Sister-in-law and loving care giver, Brenda. Sister-in-law, Charlie. Brother-in-law, Eddie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the staff at The VA Hospital, Roanoke Memorial Hospital and The Good Samaritan Hospice for all the care that was given.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Exalted Church 8277 Sanderson Dr, Roanoke, VA 24019. Yankee Baseball attire encouraged.

I´ll never forget the days serving with Rich on the USS Voge (DE1047) from 1973-75. Rich was a great guy and a very good friend. You will be missed brother. Rest in Peace Rich. We have the watch.

I will always remember that time when I was younger coming over and seeing all them baseball cards. Thinking this man has ever card that ever existed. He is the reason I am a Yankees fan. You will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Uncle Richard. He was an uncle who made me laugh. I cannot think of the Yankees without thinking of him. Nor the time that I visited North Carolina for work, but he and Aunt Patty took the time to drive down, just to see me for about three hours. Love you, Uncle Richard, Aunt Patty, and all of the Krause family!
