November 3, 1931 - May 6, 2023

Robert Ellis Turner, 91, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023. He was the son of the late Robert Leary Ellis Turner and the late Winnie Dove Markham Turner. He was also preceded in death by a son, Barry Lynn Turner; brothers, Chester and Gordon Ray; sisters, Betty Ann, Norma Jean, Diane, Catherine; and fiancé, Sylver Rebecca Shell.

Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He later worked as a salesman for the Sylvan Lincoln Mercury dealership in Roanoke and went on to owning his own dealerships in Roanoke including Discount Auto, Monarch Motors and Turner Motor Company, as well as Auto City in Salem.

He is survived, missed and remembered by his children, Robert Turner, Linda Turner, and Gary Scott (Lisa); grandchildren, Zachary Scott and Olivia Ryan (Tim); great-grandchildren, Ezra Ryan and Cecilia Ryan; brother, Roger Turner; and sister, Carolyn Dickerson.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. Immediately following graveside services will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m.
