Ronald RUFFATTO Obituary

Ronald Eugene Ruffatto, 81, of Roanoke, peacefully went to his maker on Friday morning, September 13, 2013. He was born on March 21, 1932, in Pontiac, Mich., son of the late Nick Peter and Virginia Gladys DeRousha Ruffatto. His brother, Vernon Dale Ruffatto, also preceded him in death.
Ron served his country as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War stationed in France. He retired from General Motors and Virginia Weslyan College. He was an active member of the Bonsack United Methodist Church and served for many years as President of the Social Seniors Bowling League at Hill Top Lanes. He enjoyed gardening, golf and bowling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Gloria Ann Guenther Ruffatto; son, Terry and wife, Kendall Ruffatto, of Chestertown, Md.; granddaughter, Katherine, of Fredericksburg, Va.; daughter, Karen Ruffatto, and grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas, of Batavia, Ill.; daughter, Kathleen and husband, Gregg Dattalo, grandson, Jason Greenwald and wife, Trisha, of Livonia, Mich.; stepgrandsons, Greg and Steven, of Michigan; stepdaughter, Dawn Connolly, and grandson, Anthony, of Dundalk, Md.; stepson, John Connolly and wife, Kelly, and granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Krista, of Round Hill, Va.; sister, Beverly French and children, Mary and Tommy, of Westlake Village, Calif.; sister-in-law, Shirley Ruffatto, of Shelbyville, Tenn.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Chapel Mausoleum of Old Dominion Memorial Gardens, on Cloverdale Road. The Rev. Tim Tate will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ron's memory to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Oakey's East Chapel and Crematory. www.Oakeys.com.

Ron meant a lot too me. He gave me my first job out of high school. I spent a lot of time listening to his stories as we traveled back and forth until I could buy my own car. I still listen to him sometimes. Let there be comfort in knowing that he at peace.
