Rueben Williams Obituary
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Williams Sr., of Georgia; grandfather, James Belcher Sr.; uncle, Claude Williams III; and aunt, Sylacia Maria Harris. Special childhood friends Damon, Nick, Adam and Voo remain.
Rueben was a very talented visual and performing artist who appreciated those who nurtured his talent. In turn, he taught other people how to draw and followed their progress with unselfish and obvious pride. Special thanks go to Rueben's art teachers and fans of his work, online and in his life. The worlds of fantasy, sci-fi, anime, films, the comic universes, costume designs, characters and stories that were always running inside his head were sometimes at odds with what was going on in the the world around him. Still, he continually tried to better his life and his art. He was a dreamer who loved and was loved, and will be missed.
Memorial Services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Parkway Wesleyan Church, 3645 Orange Avenue, NE in Roanoke. A Fellowship Dinner will be held immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 540-345-9100. www.serenityfuneralhome.net. Donations may be sent to the Parkway Wesleyan Church, Rueben Williams Fund, 3645 Orange Avenue, NE, Roanoke, Va. 24012.

Rueben, Its been 10 years since we last spoke my friend and I can still remember our conversation we had 3 days before the accident. I still think about you all the time and miss the times we shared over 20 years of our life as friends. For people who didn't know Rueben, he had a talent that was beyond his years and I had the privilege of witnessing history in the making throughout his life as an artist. We were the bestest of friends and I am honored that I was able to know you growing up. I will always and forever miss my big brother, you will never be forgotten. Your legacy still moves on through the the hearts and souls of your family and friends. Shelia, Shelitta, Shelia B. my heart goes out to you all and my God bless you.

Sister Sheila, I've known you for just a short while but it seems as though I've known you for a lifetime because we have such kindred spirits. Just know that I'm praying that God will comfort you daily and give you the strength to go on, because I believe that this is what Rueben would want. I did not know him personally but I just know in my heart that he was an awesome child because you are an awesome Mother and I love you so much! God will never leave you nor forsake you and He's right there with you, giving you Peace in the midst of your storm. I know that your heart is heavy right now, but just "Praise God Anyhow!!!"

Reuben will be missed. He was one of the great young boys in our youth group at Parkway - it was such a joy to have him come and bring Damon and Voo - we enjoyed them all and it made it worth the time and energy to serve as youth leaders. After Reuben and the others graduated, we would still see Reuben from time to time and he would update us on what he had been doing and how his art work was progressing. He was so talented. We lift all of his family and friends up in prayer for we know what a loss this truly is. Praying God's comfort and healing to all who had the pleasure of knowing Reuben.

It was truly an honor to know someone of such great passion for the talent he had and to display who he is for everyone to see. I often feel bad and say I'm better off not knowing, because I don't want to bare the bad news, how selfish me. This at all was not Ruebem. He showed his emotion and heart through his work, so how could I say it would be better not knowing such a wonderful and great guy. I remember when we frist meet Rueben he was a very cool guy . My oldest son meet him they went to the mall.And he took a picture with his niece by his oldest brother Eddie . I remember Rueben from the mall back when I used to work at the arcade. He always had his sketch book drawing something. It breaks my heart to know that the world has lost such a wonderful person. When "Freedom" comes out, I'm going to dedicate it you Rueben. I'll miss you man.

I didn't know Rueben personal. From friends I understand he was a joy to be around. I know this is one of the hardest thing in life to happen to a parent. Ms. Wright--my heart aches for you as I lost my son almost 8 years ago. I have a daughter that is an art student. Please hold his artwork close to your heart as it will bring you some sort of peace as the years pass. People like your son look at the world thru rose colored glasses with dreams the rest of us will never know.
