R. Roscoe Schoonover, 90, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and family in Heaven on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
He enjoyed playing his harmonicas along with his wife, Mary, and her guitar at several churches, the Salem Senior Center and nursing homes in the area. Roscoe and Mary loved meeting friends and seeing staff at McDonalds for breakfast several times a week for many years.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Mary Cronk Schoonover; his daughter, Terrie Schoonover Brogan (Marshall); his son, Russell "Rusty" Schoonover; and four grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel followed a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Tributes may be shared at www.Oakeys.com.
