Tony Ray Arrington Sr.

1954 - 2025

Tony Ray Arrington, Sr., aged 70, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 16, 2025 at the Hospice House in Roanoke, VA.

For over 50 years, Tony worked as an auto mechanic, including two decades at Gil Farmer Chevrolet in Rocky Mount, VA. He ended his career at Nelson Kia Subaru in Collinsville, VA. When he wasn't under a car hood "working on junk" he loved fishing (whether the fish were biting or not), bowling, and going on vacation with his wife Francine. Most of all, he loved being "Papa" to his grandchildren.

Tony is survived by his wife, Francine D. Wood Arrington; his son, Tony R. Arrington, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Jordan Smith-Arrington; his daughter, Carla P. Blake; his special sister-in-law, Deborah Wood Ibargo; and his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Caleb D. Blake, Courtney R. Blake, and Ian C. Arrington.

He was predeceased by his parents, Maynard Cobbs Arrington and Clara Mae (Austin) Frame, and his brother, James L. "Jimmy" Arrington. He is also survived by his sister, Gwendolyn Amos (Bill); and brothers George M. "Chipper" Arrington (Betty), Waddy P. Arrington (Barbara), Lonnie S. Arrington (Beverly), Robin D. Arrington (Lynore), and Herbert F. Dillon (Donna).

The family invites you to join them in celebrating Tony's life. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm at Boones Mill Christian Church at 7950 Grassy Hill Rd, Boones Mill, VA 24065. Funeral services will follow at the church on Tuesday, August 19 at 11:00am with a reception directly after.
