Walter Housman Obituary

Walter Madison Housman, 64, of Wirtz, Va., passed away Friday, August 25, 2006. Walter worked at J. P. Stevens for 40 years, and retired Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from the maintenance staff at Franklin County High School. He was born December 7, 1941 to the late Clyde and Olyer Young Housman and was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Pagans and a brother, C.W. Housman. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Ann Wade Housman; his brother, Monroe Housman and wife, Lorraine; his son, Jeffrey Housman; two daughters; stepsons, Glenn Hartman, Benjamin Hartman and wife, Tina and Keith Hartman and his wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Tabitha, B.J., Megan, Tyler, Ashley, Shanna, Logan, and Savannah; stepgrandchildren, Chara and Nicholas; and greatgrandchildren, Maggie, Xavier and Malachi. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2006, with the Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Sunday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main St., Rocky Mount.
