July 2, 1945 - December 15, 2024
Wayne Eugene Cox, 79, of Vinton, VA, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 15, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene "Russell" Cox and Mary Spicer Crabtree; and two brothers, Larry Cox and Ronnie Cox.
Wayne was a United States Army veteran serving from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam Era.
He is survived by his children, Pam Belcher (David), Jan-Michael Cox (Tracie), and Debbie Boles; grandchildren, Sarah Bolton, Laura Bray, Ben Belcher, Hallie Cox, Hunter Cox and Justin Boles; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Kathryn, Carson, Marshall, and Ellie; brother, Darol Cox; and his beloved dog, Sippi.
The family would like to thank Donna Crumpacker for all the care she gave to Wayne during his illness.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. There will be no additional service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the ASPCA. Friends may leave condolences to the family by visiting www.Oakeys.com.

Wayne was a great guy. I remember meeting him at Fisher Auto Parts. He would come in to see Jan Michael. He was always friendly to everyone. He thought a lot of his dog too. That´s a good man in my book. I´m sure he will be missed. God bless the family at this time and always. R.I.P. Wayne.

I didn´t know Wayne well, I always knew when it was Thursday his yard was always mowed beautifully. Gave his dog snacks every time he was out back and Wayne would laugh and wave. I´ll miss those brief times. RIP my friend.
