Joseph Giletto

May 20, 2023

I am Joseph Basil Giletto MD FACS Otolaryngology. I worked with Jeff for about one and a half years. I sustained a stroke and had to retire. If I did not have a stroke I would have worked with Jeff for as long as I could. Partnerships in medical practices are interesting. Often not friendly. Jeff made me feel like I was part of his family. He was a hard worker, and I tried to keep up with him. Our day began at 4 am so we could be at the gym by 5 am. Office hours started at 7 am. He was teaching me to shoot skeet. I am a good pistol and rifle shot, but skeet was new to me. I joined Jeff around February 2015. My family was in Michigan. When my birthday in May came along, I did not want to make a fuss, thus I did not mention it. Jeff came into my office and said, "Today is your birthday!" I said, "Yes, but I forgot." Jeff said, "No one forgets their birthday." Next, I knew balloons showed up and a birthday card with the signature of everyone from the office. I still have that card. Later, Jeff and his wonderful family took me to a great Mexican restaurant. I will always remember. Jeff's wife was so dynamic and kind. His children were great! Jeff and his family made me feel very welcome. Working with Jeff was like working with my brother. May 2016 I had a stroke. His whole family kicked into gear and got my condo settled and got my things in order as I had to leave and I returned to my family in Michigan. If I did not have the stroke, I would still be working with Jeff. I was heartbroken to receive the news of his death. He was very religious and I like to think he is walking with God, or perhaps Jeff is helping The Good Lord how to shoot skeet! Jeff and his family will always have a special place in my heart. I think and pray for Jeff and his family often. Sincerely Doc Joe 05/20/2023.

Our hearts are broken; we lost a very dear friend who brought a lot of good memories into our lives. But while we mourn for his loss we also give thanks to our God that such a man lived and gave so much of himself to others. We pray for God to come into our lives and into our heart to teach us to nurture, love, and protect and to condone, forgive and forget. With love to the family

He was a fine doctor and friend to Dr Martin L Brooks and his wife Pam.

I pray for Sara and the children....

I was his med school classmate at UNC. I loved him like a brother but lost touch over the years. Jeff was probably the smartest guy in our class and loved by all. He was a larger than life character that will truly be missed by anyone who knew him. I only found out of his demise today April 30th. I wish I could be there to share stories with his wife and kids. I loved him.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Jeff’s passing and the loss of his beautiful smile. To Sarah, Jane and children please know my thoughts are with you. Aunt Myrtle is my father William Winn’s sister in a family of 15 children. Jeff is one of some 40 cousins.
Regrettably we do not get to see each other often, but are bound by love. My fondest memory of Jeff was when he was about 8 and taking karate lessons, proceeding to practice kicks on the backs of everyone’s chair at the dining table! I can still see the look on Aunt Myrtle’s face. Such a character, he will be sorely missed. Rest in peace sweet Jeff.
