Eileen Gross, 99, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2021, at home.
Eileen was born to Raymond and Margaret (Bernhard) Smith Sept. 9, 1922, in Plymouth. After high school she graduated from beauty college and later worked at John Meck in Plymouth, testing crystals that were used in B25 airplanes. There she met Kenneth Gross and they married. He preceded her in death during World War II.
Eileen attended the EUB Church, now known as Emmanuel UMC, in her younger years, where she taught children's Sunday School class.
On Oct. 29, 1945, she married Don Gross. They enjoyed many years of camping, dancing, fishing, gardening, ice/roller skating, winters in Florida and most of all family. Eileen also enjoyed baking pies, playing piano, swimming, crocheting doilies, reading and word puzzles.
Eileen is survived by her children: Jim Gross, Argos, Jerry (Janeal) Gross, Statesville, N.C., Jean (Ron) Brown, Anchorage, Alaska, Ron (Bettie) Gross, Rochester, Dan (Deb) Gross, Leiters Ford, and Donna Higgins of Wake Forest, N.C; grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, granddaughter Chloe and grandson Brian.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21at Odom Funeral Home, 104 E. Lakeshore, Culver. Funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 401 S. Main St. Culver.
Odom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
