Lois E. (Burton) Van Meter, 86, formerly of Jackson, Mich., and Fulton County, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 29, 2021, in Fairlawn, Ohio.
She was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Fulton, the daughter of Fred A. and Lelia Belle (Gault) Burton. On July 12, 1953, in Cass County, she married Harold Van Meter. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2012.
Lois was an Avon representative, Real Estate Agent, a 7-Eleven store employee and a volunteer at the Jackson Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and baking, especially with her family and friends. Her family will cherish the quilts she made as well as many memories of baking together and eating her famous waffles. She led two card clubs and was a member of the Lois Club and the Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed having long phone conversations with her loved ones.
Survivors include her son, David (Barbara) Van Meter; grandchildren, Ron (Jenifer) Van Meter, Carrie (Robert Mast) Van Meter, Ashley (Andrew) Klug, Jessica Van Meter, David (Hannah) Van Meter and Lauren Van Meter; great-grandchildren Joey Van Meter, Emily Van Meter-Mast, Tyler Klug and Paige Klug.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Barbara Jo Van Meter in 1999, Brenda Kay Van Meter in 2016; siblings Lincoln Burton, Donald Burton, Wanda Burton and Alberta Barker, who passed away earlier the same day.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Fulton. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Metea Baptist Cemetery, Metea. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmer manbrosfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lois's former church, Calvary United Methodist Church, 925 Backus St., Jackson, MI, 49202.

David and family sorry for your loss. Lois was a good friend a kind caring lady. I worked 6 years at 7-11 with Lois. We met yearly for lunch Lois, Ria and I. I have good memories of Lois. Prayers for your family! R.I.P. Sweet Lois.
