John Mackey Obituary

John Bradley Mackey Sr., age 75, of Conyers, was called home on the morning of September 24th, 2008. He was born in Santa Monica, CA, the son of the late Bradley J. and Della Mackey. A resident of Rockdale County, GA for 38 years, Mr. Mackey retired from Madison Ind. after 47 years and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He loved to work with his hands and soon became the neighborhood handyman. If you needed help, you could always count on John. He loved to ride his motorcycle on winding mountain roads. Whether with Lily, the guys or just solo, he loved to hit the road. In the last several years, he was able to ride a lot with his son Shane, making it much more enjoyable. He will be missed by his wife of 55 years Lily S. Mackey formerly of Ephrata, PA., two sons and a daughter; John B. Jr. husband of Patty J., Shane L. Mackey, Vienna Mackey, granddaughter; Erin C. wife of Michael Sisk, grandsons; John B. III husband of Sara M., Jason B. husband of Evie A., Colson L. Mackey, great-grandson; Ian Paul Mackey, great-granddaughter; Kaitlyn Nicole Mackey and brother; Wes L. husband of Peggy. He was preceded to his reward by grandson Cody Mackey. Join the family for a celebration of John's life on Saturday October 4th, 2008 at 2:00pm at Horis A. Ward's Rockdale Chapel, 1999 Highway 138 Southeast Conyers, GA 30010 (770-918-8851) followed by a memorial service at 3:15pm.
