Marjorie Shull Obituary

Marjorie Jervis Shull, 96, died peacefully July 13, 2007, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter, Barbara Hartley of Rocky Mount. Mrs. Shull was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Frank Taylor Shull Jr., who died in 1981. Mrs. Shull was born in New York City where she graduated from New York University with a degree in music. She was a talented athlete, captaining the tennis and swim teams during college. She was a lifelong member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. The family lived in Bethesda, Md., later moving to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for several years during World War II when her husband was on assignment with the State Department. Mr. and Mrs. Shull lived in Nassau, Bahamas and Costa Rica before settling down in Florida. Mrs. Shull was a gifted linguist, teaching and speaking five languages. After her husband"s death, Mrs. Shull moved to Raleigh where she became active at Trinity Presbyterian Church, serving on many committees, and as an Elder and member of the Session. She volunteered her time with Hospice and the Raleigh Conservatory of Music. An avid golfer, Mrs. Shull played with a Nine Hole Women"s group until her late 80"s. She is survived by four children, Barbara S. Hartley, Marilyn S. Brown of Raleigh, Frank T. Shull, III of Bethesda, Md., and George J. Shull of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Her 13 grandchildren include Pamela Federline of Wilmington, Marjorie Federline Jernigan of Raleigh, Terri Remy of Falls Church, Va., and Stacey Sauter of Potomac, Md. Our beloved 'Nanny" lived a long and blessed life in the company of her family, including 19 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the Hospice care taking team from Advantage Hospice in Wilson and Solace Health Care for their tender loving care of our beloved mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Advantage Hospice, 3011-G N.C. Highway 42 W., Wilson, NC 27893. The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 21st at 4:00 p.m., Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3120 New Hope Road, Raleigh. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Tributes may be sent to www.brownwynne.com.

I am sincerely sorry for the Shull famlies loss.Marge was a great Lady. I am thankfull I had the opportunity to spend some of my life with her. God Bless each and every one of her heirs.
