Donald Shumate Obituary

Mr. Donald Hugh Shumate, Sr., age 84, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022. He was born on May 25, 1937 in Floyd County. He was the son of the late Hugh and Kathleen Mathews Shumate.

Mr. Shumate is survived by his wife, Joan Elizabeth McElwee Shumate; daughter, Devy Haas (Mike); sons, Donny Shumate (Shelly), Jeffrey Shumate, and Jeremy Shumate; brother, Harold Shumate; grandchildren, Grant Shumate, Lauryn Kracala, Devyn Shiflett, Colton Haas, Slade Shumate, Perry Adams, and Gracie Shumate; and great-grandchildren, Emersynn Shiflett, Brooks Shiflett, Blake Adams, and Lane Shumate.

Mr. Shumate is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Bobby Shumate and Sammy Shumate.

In keeping with Mr. Shumate's wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service for Mr. Donald Hugh Shumate, Sr. will be held at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
