Ellen H. Mathis

Mrs. Ellen H. Mathis, age 84, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Mrs. Mathis was born on October 13, 1940, daughter of the late Thomas Owen Holsonback and the late Kathleen Cordle Holsonback. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Mr. Weyman Mathis. She was a faithful member of North Broad Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and worked with the Children's Ministry. She loved her family dearly and she will be missed by all.

Survivors include her children, Denise Smith (Jimmy) and Janet Wilson (Bob); her grandchildren, Whitney Hsu (Ryan), Cameron Smith (Shianne Quick), and Abigail Wampler (John); her great grandchildren, Ella Kate, Joseph, and Davis Hsu, Oakley Smith, and Brooks Wampler; her brother, Wayne Holsonback (Chris); her sister, Melanie Johnson (John); a special nephew, Jeff Johnson; several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at North Broad Baptist Church on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 2:00pm, with her pastor Micah Pritchett officiating, interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at North Broad Baptist Church on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 12:00 pm until the hour of service.

Pall bearers are asked to assemble at North Broad Baptist Church by 1:30pm and include Ryan Hsu, Cameron Smith, Jeff Johnson, Clayton Johnson, Mark Barlow, John Wampler, and John Fulk.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you consider making a memorial donation to North Broad Baptist Church Children's Ministry or Music Ministry; 1309 Broad St, Rome, GA 30161.
