Jimmy Ross Smith

Mr. Jimmy Ross Smith, age 81, of Rome, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Smith was born in Floyd County, Georgia on February 21, 1944, son of the late Oscar Smith and the late Bessie Tillery Smith. He was also preceded in death by five siblings, Thelma Ortwein, Billy Smith, Buddy Smith, Bobby Smith, and Annie Ruth Stanley. Mr. Smith retired from Georgia Power following several years in Substation Construction. He was a Christian. Mr. Smith was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include four daughters, Pam Givens (Jim), Kristie Harris (Jason), Paula Smith, and Karen Hardin: grandchildren, Jay Graham (Bess), Rachel Givens, Burch Givens (Ella), Kaitlin Warren (Jackson), Graisen Dotson (Drew), Marcus Harris, Nick Tate, Andrew Tate, Colt Hardin, and Jaycee Hardin; great grandchildren, Jack Graham, Brooks Warren, Parker Warren, Remi Dotson, Barrett Dotson, Reed Dotson (due in August, 2025); mother of his children, Paulette Beard; siblings, Tiny Pledger, Johnny Smith, and Joyce Brown; nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 3pm at Scott Cemetery in Plainville. Mr. Jim Givens will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 4 until 6pm.

Pallbearers will be Jim Givens, Jason Harris, Jay Graham, Burch Givens, Colt Hardin, Andrew Tate, and Marcus Harris.
