Marc Maslanka Obituary

Marc Alfred Maslanka 71, of Atlanta died on June 26, 2024 after a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents Al Maslanka and Irene Maslanka, and his first wife Nicole Maslanka.

Marc graduated from West Rome High school and was in the class of 1971.

He was a Boy Scout and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

He attended Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama) and graduated from Troy State University. He went on the become a Physician Assistant, earning a degree from Emory University.

Marc worked at the Emory Clinic all of his career, working in orthopedic surgery, and ran clinical trials for several pharmaceutical companies. He became a well known expert on post-operative pain, and presented findings from the trials at medical conferences all over the world.

He served as president of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants and was instrumental in gaining prescribing rights for PA's from the Georgia Legislature.

Marc leaves behind his wife, Leslie Spotts, Brothers Mike Maslanka (Lynn) of Vero Beach, FL, Matt Maslanka (Jill) of Rome, and nieces Maddie, Kate, and Abby and nephew Max.

In accordance to his wishes, there will be no public service.

I have fond memories of Marc as he shared many activities my family and I engaged in over the years. He took an interest offering support and advise regarding up and downs of our lives. Always energetic, always fun. Hope we offered support to him over the years. Will miss you.
