Rufus Mathis Obituary
Buster was born in Rome, Georgia on October 27, 1940, son of the late Mary Ruth Statham Gresham and the late Rufus Howard Gresham, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Lee Hunter Gresham. Prior to retirement, Buster worked for Pet Bakery for a number of years. He was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church. Buster loved music and enjoyed playing his keyboard and harmonica.
Survivors include two sisters, Maxine Mathis (Harry) and Sandra Wiseman; a brother, Ricky Vance Gresham (Rita); a daughter, Wendy Lee Crane; three grandsons, Brandon, Curtis and Adam Crane; two great granddaughters, Kayla and Ruth Crane; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Benjie Mathis officiating. Private interment will be at Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 1 until 1:45pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
