Acey Wilburn Obituary
Acey was a 22-year Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War and earning several medals. He was a member of the Henry P. Smith Post #24.
In retirement, Acey enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He bred and trained coon hounds and beagles, and won several competitions.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; two sons, Acey Wilburn II (Alaina) and James Wilburn (Sara); three grandchildren, Alex Wilburn, Stephen Wilburn (Aspen), and Katherine Wilburn; a sister-in-law, Ruby Peters; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, David Peters.
Acey's family would like to thank the wonderful Drs., nurses, and staff at the VA Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion over the last 5 years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 28th at 6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 4-6:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
