Delores Anne "Dory" Smith

On March 26, 2025, our sweet mom, Dory (Delores Anne) Smith (Cieslak) left her earthly home to reunite with our dad at their heavenly residence. On earth, they shared a love and commitment to family that will live on for generations. It was a true love story that lasted for over 56 years until dad's passing in June 2024.

Dory was born on March 3, 1950, to parents Chester and Lillie Cieslak. After graduating from New York Mills High School, Dory married her forever love, Bill Smith in July 1968. Dory devoted her life to her family, filling each of us with special gifts that we will carry in our hearts forever. When dad was injured in a biking accident, mom became his advocate, paving a way for his independence and supporting him through any obstacle. They were an amazing team, sealed with a three-strand chord from their Heavenly Father. When dad's health diminished, mom became dad's primary caregiver, providing a care of excellence with a passion and humble heart. Mom cleared every obstacle and would say that it was her honor to care for dad. Our parent's strong faith in their Lord Jesus carried them through many challenges.

Dory is survived by her cherished family, children Dee Krutz (Ed), Bill Smith (Kate), and Jason Smith (Chris Connor); beloved grandchildren, Jesse, Vanessa, Corey, Ella, Ben, Brandi, Brooke, and Haylee; sister, Betty Cardamone; brother, Bob Cieslak; sister-in-law, Betty Kotary; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Smith, and her parents.

Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Friday, April 4th, from 4-6:00 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday, April 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with interment in Floyd Cemetery to follow.
