Eileen Ruth Bidwell

1933 - 2024

Eileen Ruth Bidwell passed away peacefully, in Utica, NY, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, with her family by her side.

She was born, November 26, 1933, in Holland Patent, NY, the daughter of William and Edna Mahoney Edwards, and grew up on the family farm in Stittville. On January 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to Calvin W. Bidwell, a loving union that lasted until Calvin's passing on November 11, 2019. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Steuben, until 1963. Eileen later worked for the Holland Patent School System as the Attendance Officer, as well as a school bus driver.

She helped Relay for Life and spent many years as a volunteer for special causes, including cancer. She was always willing to step up and lend a hand at Steuben Community Church.

Eileen was a devoted and loving wife and mother, whose greatest joy was time spent with her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to make a favorite dish or desert for you. She had a strong appreciation for, and always kept up with, the latest kitchen gadgets, many of which she would gift to her family.

She is survived by her children, Neil (Mary) Bidwell, Dale Bidwell, Sharon Harp, Karen (Bernie) Kelly, and Aaron Bidwell; her grandchildren, Angel, David and James (Danielle) Skibitski, Carolyn, Meghan (Mark), Samuel and Matthew Bidwell, DanielBoak, Ethan and Noah Bidwell, Jason and Joshua Harp, Max (Summer) Bidwell, Brittany, Levi, Ethan and Jaime Kelly, and Alice Bidwell; several great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Judy (Barry) Bingham and Linda (Ed) Krukowski; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends including Steve and JoAnn Abel. She was predeceased by two sons, Dean and Michael; a daughter, Wanda; her brother, William Edwards; sister-in-law, Ann Edwards; and daughter-in-law, Amanda Bidwell.

In accordance with Eileen's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A private memorial service will be held for the Family. Interment will be at the Townsend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in her name to the Holland Patent Hose Co.
