Felix Nolan Obituary

Felix "Phil" Nolan, 70, passed away, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Ralph Crash said it best, "Jesus needed a drummer."

Felix was born in Utica, on January 18, 1954, the beloved son of Leonard and Antoinette (Salvatore) Nolan. Felix attended schools in Utica, where, at a young age, he developed a lifelong passion for music. An accomplished and talented drummer, Felix played with various bands, including Hi-Density, Side Effect and Newport News. He spent many of his free hours, in his home recording studio, creating music that brought joy to him and others.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Felix retired as a custodian from the New Hartford School District.

He will be remembered as a generous and talented man, known for his unwavering loyalty and readiness to lend a hand when needed.

Felix is survived by his two sisters, Charlotte "Lottie" Cardillo, of Utica and Lucille "Lu" Latini and her husband, John Latini III, of New Hartford; three brothers, Leonard Nolan and his wife, Anna, of Liverpool, Francis Nolan and John Nolan, both of Utica; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and he was very much looking forward to the arrival of his great-nephew, Ronald III's baby, who would have made him a great-great uncle. Felix enjoyed a close friendship with Amy Sears and her children, Gary Howard Mazza and Goddaughter, Mariel Antoinette Mazza.

He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Antoinette, in 2012; father, Leonard; older brother, William Nolan; aunt, Mary Zdyb; great-nephew, Adi Dedic; and most recently, his brother-in-law, Ron Cardillo, the man who introduced him to music more than six decades ago.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 12 Noon, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet visitors in church from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Felix, please consider donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

I fondly remember Phil from school. He was always kind and willing to go the extra mile to help. He treated students and staff with dignity. Although he was quiet, he left his mark on all of us. I remember being surprised that this quiet guy was a drummer!

Phil, you were family to us. You were my dad´s best friend, great friend to Mom, and like an uncle to us kids. One of the best people I ever knew. You were always there for me as a teenager and I really appreciate that more than you knew. Camp will never be the same, but I know your spirit will always be there with us. I will always remember you being so positive, silly, always with a smile on your face, and that funny laugh you had. We all shared so many good times with you. You will be so very missed by all of us. Love you Philly, and I will see you on the other side. "YESSIR"
