Geradine Barber Obituary
Geradine D. (Shepard) Barber, 76, of Katy, TX, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on February 26, 1949, in Rome, NY. She was the daughter of Jean Northway Shepard. She graduated from Rome Free Academy, in Rome, NY, in 1967. She was employed by Pettibone of Rome and transferred to Tiffin, Ohio in 1984. Eventually, she worked at United Insurance Services, in Tiffin, until she retired in 2017. On June 24, 1977, she was united in marriage to the late Robert E. Barber at Floyd Methodist Church in Floyd, NY and shared a blessed union of 43 years.
She was a diehard sports fan and exclusively followed the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. She and Bob loved to play golf. She even shot a hole in one once. Gerri loved to drink wine, watch game shows, do word search puzzles and hanging out with friends.
Surviving are her sister, Pat Shepard Cady (John), Rome, NY; five children, son, Keith Broskay (Anika), Katy, TX, daughter, Lori Broskay Lopes (Max), Houston, TX, stepdaughters, Deborah Barber, Morrisville, NY, Cheryl Barber Guenther (Bob), Bristol, CT and Roxanne Barber Kervin (Jim), Ohio, NY; grandchildren, Chase, Gwen and Andrew Broskay, Hannah, Ethan and Nathan Lopes, Rob (Jackie) Fallon, Nicole (Keith Simpson) Fallon, Melissa (Tim) Aiello, Katie (Brenton) Eckstrom, Christine (Mark) Miller and Robert (Brooke) Kervin; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her mother, Jean Shepard; brothers, David Shepard and Jim Shepard; and sister, Crystal Shepard Beckwith (Mike).
In keeping with Gerri's wishes, there will be no public services. Graveside services will be, private for the family, in Townsend Cemetery, Stittville, NY.
