Marisa Monterastelli Nizzi, 98, of Rome, passed away, peacefully surrounded by family, on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Marisa was born on January 22, 1927, in Fiumalbo, Italy, daughter of the late Emilio and Maria Monterastelli. Marisa married Leo Nizzi on September 8, 1948, in Borgo A Mozzano, Italy. Marisa and her first daughter, Maria Teresa Nizzi Bobell, immigrated to America to reunite with Leo on April 11, 1953. After moving to Rome, NY, Marisa and Leo welcomed their son, Pellegrino "Perry" Nizzi and their second daughter, Loriana Nizzi Moakler, to the family. During their time in Rome, Maria Teresa Nizzi Bobell wed Edward M. Bobell, Jr. and Loriana Nizzi Moakler wed John P. Moakler, Sr. Along with her three children, Marisa was blessed with an impressive lineage of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marisa, a dedicated employee of Revere Copper and Brass, will always be remembered for her luck in finding 4 leaf clovers, her unmatched ability to knit slippers for all that wanted them and her ability to welcome all into her home for a glass of homemade wine.
Marisa is survived by her children, Perry Nizzi and daughters, Maria Teresa Nizzi (Edward) Bobell, Jr. and Loriana Nizzi (John) Moakler, Sr.; grandchildren, Edward M. Bobell, III and his wife, Kathleen, Katrina Bobell, Paul Moakler and his wife, Taylre, Leo C. Nizzi and his wife, Annie and Marisa Michele Nizzi. She was also blessed to be a part of four great-grandchildren's lives, starting with Christopher Bobell, Nicholas Bobell, Luca Moakler and Camron Moakler, all who have been enriched by being around her.
Marisa was predeceased by her husband, of 61 years, Leo Nizzi; as well as her parents, Emilio and Maria Monterastelli; a grandson, John P. Moakler, Jr.; brother, Mario Monterastelli; and sister, Rina Lenzini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome. The family will receive guests at the conclusion of Mass. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
