Robert Warwick Obituary

October 17, 1949 - July 11, 2025

Robert Henry Warwick was born on October 17, 1949, in Providence, RI. He was the middle child of five and spent his early years in various towns across Massachusetts and Maine, where he played Little League baseball, hockey and golf. He was also an acolyte and a Boy Scout, showing early signs of the dedication and curiosity that would define his life.

He attended Utica College and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, with teaching certification. While at Utica College, Bob played on the hockey team and was a proud member of the Theta Xi Fraternity - a time in his life filled with close friendships and camaraderie. It was in his junior year that he met Sue, who he would later marry. After graduation, he returned to coach the college's hockey team, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to mentoring young athletes and being a steadfast supporter of Utica's Hockey Program.

On July 27, 1974, Bob married Susan Casatelli and last year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected a lifetime of love, partnership and shared devotion to family.

Bob began his teaching career at UFA, then Proctor High School and ultimately, spent most of his professional life at Whitesboro High School, where he taught Biology and Chemistry. Beyond the classroom, he was a dedicated coach, leading teams in soccer, hockey, softball and tennis. His commitment to students extended far beyond academics, shaping the lives of countless young athletes with his steady guidance and generous spirit.

Even after retirement, Bob remained deeply connected to education, mentoring aspiring teachers through a program at Utica University. His passion for teaching, coaching and lifelong learning left a lasting impact on generations of students and educators.

Bob also had a full and joyful life outside the classroom. He was an avid golfer, playing hundreds of rounds at Hidden Valley Golf Course and traveling on memorable golf trips with family and friends. He also loved traveling with Sue - exploring Europe with friends, visiting West Coast wineries with family and taking road trips to North Carolina for reunions. One of his most cherished traditions was the family's annual trip to Cape Cod, which began as a getaway for the four of them and, in recent years, continued with grandchildren and a larger family gathering. He found peace and pride in gardening, especially when sharing that love with his grandchildren.

A whiz at crosswords, resourceful in the kitchen and someone who preferred to fix things himself, Bob approached everything with determination and curiosity. He was always learning, always content - never needing much more than a good glass of wine and heartfelt conversation with the people he loved.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Warwick; his daughters, Nicole Kamesaki (Lyle) and Kimberly Warwick (Patrick Sullivan); and his cherished grandchildren, Emi and Nina Kamesaki and Elora Sullivan. He is also survived by his siblings, John Warwick (Margaret), Edward Warwick, Christine Reed (Edward) and David Warwick (Deborah); brothers-in-law, Gary and Raymond Casatelli; along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helene Warwick; and his in-laws, Raymond and Jenny Casatelli.

Bob didn't want flowers, he wanted legacy. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a memorial award being established in Bob's honor: For the Love of the Game. A GoFundMe page has been created for donations and can be found by searching ""Bob Warwick – For the Love of the Game"" at GoFundMe.com. This award will be presented annually to a senior on the Utica College Hockey Team who embodies the spirit, dedication and love for hockey that defined Bob's experience with the game. This award ensures his passion lives on in the hearts of future players.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Though each of us knew him in our own way, we share the lasting impact he made on our lives. Please join us to celebrate the man he was, the love he shared and the legacy he leaves behind.

Bob's Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at Hidden Valley Golf Course, 189 Castle Rd., Whitesboro, with the Rev. Jason Hage officiating. All are invited to gather at 10:30 a.m., prior to the service. In keeping with Bob's wishes golf/casual attire is welcome. Lunch will follow at Harts Hill Inn, 135 Clinton St., Whitesboro. All are invited to attend. In case of rain, please refer to the funeral home website for the most up to date information.

My sincere condolences to Sue and Family. As a Theta Xi Fraternity brother with Bob we shared living in 2 Rutger Park. He was a brother as well as a friend and I always respected his commitments to school, family and the brotherhood. We lost touch after graduation and I was happy to read that he had a fulfilling career and family life. It was so sad to see that he had passed and I wish Sue and family all the best going forward. I worked with Bob for over 20 years and taught next-door to him. He was a great guy and we had a lot of laughs and fun together. Marianne and I sent her deepest condolences to Sue and the kids and family of Bob as we are not home and in Florida visiting our son at this time.

I met Bob when he was a student at Utica College in the early 1970´s. He was a lot of fun to be with along with being an excellent teacher at Whitesboro High School. His impression on education in the area will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Bob.
