Susan Licari Obituary

Susan Licari, 66, of New Hartford, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2023, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born on August 6, 1956, in Utica, NY, the daughter of Salvatore and Audrey Licari. Susan grew up in North Utica, where she attended John F. Kennedy High School. In the early years of her career, Susan worked as a deli manager at Price Chopper. Later, she worked for Agway in Syracuse and the Bank of New York. For the past 15 years, Sue was a valued employee at DFAS in Rome.

Susan had an independent spirit and infectious laugh that will be greatly missed by all who knew her. This will be especially true for her family who will remember her fondly each time they gather together. Sue was happiest taking part in family traditions and visits with neighbors. She was generous with her favorite recipes - her sausage roll and sweet potatoes were always a hit - and gifts for her siblings, nieces, and nephews. She particularly enjoyed preparing and hosting lunches for loved ones. Another favorite tradition was watching Hallmark movies during the holidays, which Sue looked forward to all year.

She is survived by her siblings Marie (Ken) Bord of New Hartford, Diane (Dan) Lupinski of New Hartford, Robert (Debbie) Licari of Winterville, North Carolina, and Paul (Angela) Licari of Liverpool; a brother-in-law Tim Brown of Oneida; her nieces and nephews Christine Bord (John Matthews) of Clinton, Anthony (Robin), Andrew (Ashley), and Vincent (Dot) Licari all of North Carolina, Robert (Anna) Licari of Austin, Texas, Todd Brown of Sherrill, Rachel (Kevin) Sayles of Sherrill, and Marisa and Alicia Licari of Liverpool; great-nieces and nephews Allison, Mason, Thane, Allana, Oliver, and Thea Licari of North Carolina, August and Julian Licari of Texas, and Harrison and Thomas Sayles of Sherrill, as well as several cousins.

In addition to her parents, Sue is predeceased by her beloved sister Andrea Brown.

Susan's family would like to express their gratitude to the New Hartford Fire Department, Edwards Ambulance, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for their compassion in caring for Sue.

Funeral arrangements are made through Dimbleby Funeral Home in Whitesboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made in Susan's name to the New Hartford Fire Department, 4 Oxford Road, New Hartford, NY 13413, or Edwards Ambulance, 3440 Oneida St., Chadwicks, NY 13319.
