Christy Plager Obituary
Christy C. Plager, 67, of Rockford, passed away on March 3, 2017. He was born on February 21, 1950, in Rockford, the son of Forest and Dorothy (Crull) Plager. Christy was in sales in the automotive industry and attended Heartland Community Church. He volunteered at the jail as a counselor, loved all Chicago sports, Nascar, he was a member of the Men's Warrior Group, and enjoyed travel and fishing. He is survived by his children; Todd (Amanda Barlow) Plager, Nate (John) Plager, and Jennifer Plager; his grandchildren, Gavin Barlow and Trinity Plager; girlfriend, Peggy Erwin and her family including, Erin (Dennis) Rabon, Todd (Kelley) Erwin, and 5 grandchildren; brother, Mike Plager; sisters, Lori Owenby, Becky Jorgensen; and mother of his children, Kathleen Koenig Plager. Predeceased by parents; and brother, Tom Plager.
Memorial Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., in Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Rd, Rockford. I just found a picture of Chris, who I haven’t seen since the 70’s. I’m so sorry to hear that he is not making people laugh anymore. I have great memories of him. Thanks, Chris, for making me laugh when we worked at Carpetland! I love you!

I attended Rockford East and played football with Chris. His quote through the season-"All I do is punt". East's offense wasn't so dynamic in 1967 scoring all of 110 points or so but our defense only yielded 63. But we did manage to keep fans sitting on pins and needles in the seats until the outcome of the game was confirmed. 3 way tie between East, Boylan, and Guilford. Great person with a great sense of humor. RIP Chris

I spoke with Cris last Tuesday. He shared that it was his last day of work as he decided to retire. He shared that there was a retirement party at Stone Eagle on Wednesday.
We spoke about his plans for the future . One month off no option!
We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing. He was truly a kind, considerate friend.
Our hearts and condolences go out to his family and mutual friends.

I only met Chris Plager a couple of times and it was usually at a funeral. It turned out we had a mutual friend and shared many stories. I saw him a few weeks ago with Gary and Barb Blascoe having dinner. He was a nice guy and funny and easy to talk with. It was like we had known each other all our lives.
My condolences to his family and friends. The world got a little smaller with his death, our loss was Heaven's gain.

It has been 10-15 years since I last saw Chris.
We were friends and teammates at REHS.
Many many good times with Chris.
I'll miss not seeing him again.
