GENEVIEVE M. EDGE, 91 SHULLSBURG, WI - Genevieve M. Edge, 91, of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. She was born December 21, 1922, in Shullsburg; the daughter of John and Mary (Brannan) Gille. Genevieve graduated as Salutatorian for the class of 1941, from Shullsburg High School. She was united in marriage to Lyle Edge on April 9, 1942, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Genevieve lived and farmed in Shullsburg Township with her husband until moving into the City of Shullsburg in 1966. In 1967, she worked as a Nurses Aide at the Shullsburg Home. In 1977, Genevieve became manager of the Shullsburg Home until her retirement in 1987. She also gave care to the Jeannie Tregoning family for two years. Genevieve is survived by six children, Robert (Barbara) Edge of Shullsburg, Kenneth (Cathy) Edge of Rockford, IL, Richard (Cindy) Edge of Windsor, WI, Susan White of Prairie Village, KS, Mary Ann (Allen) Poppy of Shullsburg, and Patti (Tom) Black of Darlington, WI; 21 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle in 1981; one brother, Thomas Gille in 1982; one sister, Eileen McWilliams-Pluemer in 2010; and one son-in-law, John White in 2006. Genevieve was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was an avid genealogist and was a member of Lafayette County Genealogical Society, where she served as its past secretary. Genevieve loved attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events. Genevieve's family will always remember her for her knitting and for making Christmas stockings for her entire family. She enjoyed feeding the birds and working in her flower garden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 344 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg, with Rev. Joji Reddy of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a close family friend, Rev. Mick Moon, of St. Francis of Assisi in Belleville, WI, concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery in rural Shullsburg. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, 235 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg, and a visitation will also be held Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home.
