Jacob "Jake" E. Gloor 1931—2017
Jacob "Jake" E. Gloor, 86, passed away on October 13, 2017 at his home surrounded by family in Ligonier, IN. He was born on April 21, 1931 in LaGrange County, IN to Gust and Mae (Bobeck) Gloor. On October, 13, 1979, he married Marilyn Jean Hasting in Topeka, IN. Jacob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Jean Gloor; 3 children: Carol (Nelson) Hunter of Ligonier, IN, Carla (Roger) Moser of Jackson, MO, Carrie Gloor-Nelson of Ligonier, IN, four step-children: Curt (Amy) Hasting of Ligonier, IN, Shari (Greg) Riverdahl of Rockford, IL, Barbara (Randy) Wooten of Wasilla, AK, and Carolyn "Sue" Hasting of Sturgis, MI; nine grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 23 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Margaret Gloor; one sister-in-law, Joan (Jim) Love-Buchtel of Rochelle, IL, along with one brother-in-law, Donald (Carol) Hildebrand of Belvidere, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters and one step grandson. Jake was quite the social butterfly. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He served on the Ligonier Park Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, all sports, and above all spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. During his career he farmed, drove a school bus for over 12 years, and retired as a quality control inspector after 22 years of service from Redman Homes in Topeka.
A time of visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 1pm-3pm & 5pm-7pm at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 10am at Yeager Funeral Home. Celebrant Larry Baker will officiate. Burial will take place at Eden cemetery in Topeka, IN following the funeral service. Memorial contributions in Jakes's name may be directed to the Ligonier Park & Recreational Center – 520 West Union Street Ligonier, IN 46767.
