JANE I. BECKSTROM, 95 LOVING GRANDMA AND GREAT-GRANDMA ROCKFORD - Jane I. Beckstrom, 95, of Rockford died peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2012, in Medina Nursing Center, Durand, with her family at her bedside. Born Nov. 29, 1916, on the family farm in Stephenson County, the daughter of Mark and Elsie (Bistline) Gutshall. Graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1934 and attended Brown's Business College in Rockford. Jane married Harold L. Beckstrom on Nov. 2, 1968, and lived in the Pecatonica area until moving to Rockford in 1986. She worked as a medical secretary for Dr. John Sheagren and Dr. David Ellis, in Rockford, for 20 years. Volunteered as a "Pink Lady" at Rockford Memorial Hospital 20 years, was a member of First Evangelical Covenant Church in Rockford where she was a greeter, and member of the Cherith Circle and deaconess. Jane is lovingly survived by grandson, Mark (Ellen) Hazzard of Winnebago; great-grandchildren, Megan Hazzard of Glen Ellyn and Alex Hazzard of Winnebago; nieces, Shirley Land of Cincinnati and Pam Gutshall of Aurora; great-nephews, Andy (Rose) Gutshall of Colona, Brad (Marie) Gutshall of Naperville, Chad (Kaitlyn) Gutshall of Joliet, and Ross Land of Fort Mill, S.C.; great-niece, Katie (Mike) Grey of Minneapolis; and several cousins in Pennsylvania. Predeceased by husband, Harold Beckstrom on Sept. 21, 1996; daughter, JoAn Hazzard on Dec. 28, 2010; grandson, Brian Hazzard on Oct. 28, 1974; brother, Ralph Gutshall; sister, Iva Messimore; and nephew, James Gutshall. Jane was able to live independently through her 95th birthday, and the time since then her family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Woods of Belvidere, the ER doctors and nursing staff of A-3 and E-3 of Rockford Memorial Hospital, the staff of Medina Nursing Center and VNA Hospice. Service at 7 p.m. Monday, May 14, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 5 p.m. to service time; Pastor Jason McClenthen, of Rockford First, will officiate.
