Joseph Salla Obituary
Joseph Paul La Salla, 67, of Rockford passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017. Born in Rockford on November 12, 1949, to Joseph Anthony and Edna Viola La Salla (Moorman). Joseph graduated 6th in his class at the Northrup Institute of Aviation and Engineering. He worked as an engineer for many years at Ingersol and owned and operated J Paul Design and Manufacturing. He was also the Director of Engineering at Astral AR LLC. A talented musician and songwriter, Joe was the bassist and the face of Hudson-McCoy, the band with whom he was a member for many wonderful years. Beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he will remain in our hearts forever. He is survived by daughters, Sara (Paul) Bowker and Leah La Salla; granddaughters, Abigail La Salla-Young and Isabella Bowker; siblings, Tom (Lois) La Salla, Patty Olsen and Johnny (Chris) La Salla; uncle, Jasper La Salla; many nieces and nephews; The Hudson McCoy Band, Jim Hudson, Mike McCoy, Kiffer Allen and Chris Starke; dear friends, Randy Sunday, Matt Randall, Lil Joe and many others. He is predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services to be held at 8 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., with visitation from 5 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family. www.rockfordfunerals.com

Deepest sympathies to the family for your loss. Joe was a customer of mine for a few years and I always enjoyed talking to him about both model trains and airplanes when he visited my store. His unique wit and presence will be sorely missed. 'Keep 'em flying Joe!'
