Kenneth "Mr. C" Cunningham 1940—2017
Kenneth "Mr. C" Cunningham of Rockford departed this earthly life Saturday, December 16, 2017, in his home. He was born April 18, 1940, in Georgiana, Alabama; the son of Richard Sr. and Mattie Cunningham. Kenneth lived in Rockford since 1967, coming from Chicago, IL. He married the former LaClede Nelson, April 30, 1960, she preceded him in death. He was employed as a assembler by Chrysler Corporation 31 years before retiring. Kenneth was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He attended school in Alabama. Kenneth leaves to cherish many loving memories, three daughters, Carolyn (Johnny) Ferguson, Miracle Cooper, Demetria (Leroy) Starks; three sons, Alvin Cunningham, Kenneth (Joann) Cunningham and Travis Knutsen-Cunningham; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Creola Davidson, Panzola Gandy and Dorothy Jefferies; brother, Richard Cunningham Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friend, Annie Yancy. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, one sister and brother. Special thanks to Della Crowley, Dr. James Keopsell and staff and Northern IL Hospice.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1720 Perry Bennett Way (former Morgan St.). Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State Street.
