Marion Minkwitz Obituary

marion jean minkwitz, 70 DELHI, Iowa - Marian Jean Minkwitz, 70, of Delhi passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Dubuque Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Marion Jean Simonin was born June 18, 1943 to Thomas and Margaret (Maxwell) Simonin in Hillsboro, Illinois. She graduated from Litchfield high school. She went on to earn her Practical Nurse Degree of Applied Sciences in 1996. In 1997 she earned her Associate Degree of Applied Sciences and Certification in Case Management Residential Service Aide in 1997. She worked as a Registered Nurse and Pediatric Nurse at University of Colorado Hospitals and retired in 2004. She served in the Peace Corps, working with orphans in Morocco. She volunteered with several organizations throughout her life including Birthright. She enjoyed traveling, like to cook, garden and loved animals, especially her cats. No person was a stranger and she was always willing to help others. She is survived by one son Tony Vespasian of Rochester, Washington; 2 sisters Peg (Bob) Saylor of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Virginia Simonin of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joe Simonin and two daughters at birth. There will be a celebration of her life held in June 2014 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Details to be announced at a later date.
