MARK SIMON BARKLEY, 44 ROCKFORD - Mark Simon Barkley, 44, of Rockford departed this earthly life Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in his home. Born Jan. 1, 1968, in Chicago, the son of Simon Jr. and Earnestine Barkley. Lived 20 years in Rockford, coming from Chicago. Married the former Yolonda Green, on Dec. 21, 2001, in Rockford. Employed as a lead person by Joseph Behr Recycling for eight years. Member of Kishwaukee Street Church of Christ. Graduated in 1986 from Simeon High School, where he participated in basketball and baseball. Leaves to cherish many loving memories, wife, Yolonda "Loni", sons, David Robinson and Travon Barkley; daughters, Ebony, Lisa, and Mariah Barkley and Melanie Williams; five grandchildren; stepsons, Dane Countryman and Oscar Heath; mother, Earnestine Barkley; sister, Lisa Barkley; and brother, Dwight Barkley; a host of other relatives and friends. Predeceased his father and brother, Robert McKenzie. Services at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, at Kishwaukee Street Church Of Christ 3227 Kishwaukee St., with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time; Brother McLin will officiate. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W. State St.

Loni, none of these words can ease the pain that you are feeling right now. I lift you and the children into God's hands for comfort and peace. Mark was a remarkable man that loved you and all the babies with his whole heart. Cherish each memory and remember he is still with you in spirit. Love to my entire family now always and forever.

Mark was one of my cousin's(Antiwone) closest friends growing up in the neighborhood. I remember them always hanging out back in the day. So sorry for your loss....my condonlences goes out to the family.
