Mitchell Peterson Obituary

Mitchell Allen Peterson 1991—2017
Mitchell Allen Peterson, 25, formerly of Rockton, departed his earthly life on Sunday, March 19, 2017, in New Orleans. He was born in Rockford, IL on July 1, 1991, the son of Randy Peterson and Lisa Koski. Mitch's life was defined by his simple, peaceful embrace of the world around him, combined with the ruthless grip of a heroin addiction that tragically tore him down. Everyone has a story to tell. Mitch had a story, too, but it wasn't the story of drug addiction. That was only a footnote to his lifetime of experiences, relationships, and dreams. His story was one of peace and love, of compassion and friendship, of a beautiful son, brother, grandson, and nephew who emitted a palpable peace to everyone around him. He was a young man who loved deeply, and longed for the love of others, which he so readily received. He had a carefree and tender spirit, which endeared him to others and earned him the deep and lasting friendships he treasured until his final days. Mitch left his life as he lived it — full of peace and love from those who loved him most, having given so much more to this world than he ever took from it. The world lost a gentle, loving soul but will always be remembered by his parents, Lisa (Dawn) Koski of Janesville, and Randy (Barbara) Peterson of Rockford; siblings, Jessica (Matt) Peterson of Monona, and Caitlin Peterson of South Beloit; maternal grandmother, Gail Koski; paternal grandfather, Donald Peterson; many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Koski and paternal grandmother, Ginger Peterson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at First Congregational UCC, 54 S. Jackson Street, Janesville, Wisconsin, with a luncheon to follow. Memorials are preferred to the Rockford Rescue Mission or to Project 16:49. Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. I am so sorry for your loss . Mitch was a friend of our daughters and came over maybe a couple of times . Always if I saw him out somewhere he would say hello to me like I knew him forever. Such a very sweet soul. Again my heart hurts for your family . May you find peace in the memories you cherish of him

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to Mitchell's family and friends. It's times like these when the loving promises of our Heavenly Father such as knowing that we can see our loved ones again can bring us comfort and soften some of the pain we feel in our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13,14
