Pek Benink Obituary

PEK BENINK, 79 ROCKFORD - Pek Benink, 79, of Rockford passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 15, 2007, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born Oct. 3, 1928, in Bandung, Java, Indonesia. She was married to Johannes Benink Sr. in Bandung on Aug. 16, 1948. Pek lived for her extended family, loving each and every one of them. She loved to cook and share her recipes with others, teaching them Oriental cuisine, as only she knows how. She was the glue that kept the family together. Pek is survived by her husband; children, John Benink Jr., Gary (Pamela) Benink, Paula (Jerome) Kettner, MeiLie Benink, Johanna Benink and Eric (Suzette) Benink; grandchildren, Jeff, Jennifer, Eric Jon, Dawn, Amy, Tim, Shanna, Yan, Cain, Logan, Anaka and Ericson; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Her parents, brothers and sisters predeceased her. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, 5666 E.
