RUSSELL W. DESHAZO, 74 BYRON - Russell W. DeShazo, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at the Serenity Home in Oregon. He was born Feb. 23, 1939 in Rochelle the son to Hayward and Kathryn (Kruse) DeShazo. He graduated from Dundee High School in 1957 and entered the United State Army in 1959. He married Sally "Sue" McDanel on July 27, 1963 in Stillman Valley, IL. Russell drove Truck for 47 years and worked for Judge & Doff Trucking. He also enjoyed farming. He was a member of the United Church of Byron, a member of the Byron American Legion where he served for years in the funeral honor guard, and carried the U.S. Flag in the local parades. He also would drive his antique John Deere tractors in the parades. He was also a member of the Teamster's local 325 & 720. Russell lived for his family, especially his grandchildren always attending their activities whenever he could. He loved to be in his yard making sure it was cared for in the best possible way. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Sue, sister, Bobbie Reeverts, sister-in-law, Judi McDanel, brother-in-laws, Bill and Kenny, Survived by his daughters, Kelly (Dave) Bolen and Cindy (Bill) Hanlin all of Byron, brother, Ron (Becky) DeShazo of Stillman Valley, 4 grandchildren; Sabrina (Joel) Davis, Rachel Hanlin, Emily Hanlin, and Logan Bolen, 2 great grandchildren, Joseph Moore and Maleah Davis, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the United Church of Byron with the Rev. Michael Mulberry pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Thursday, Jan. 2nd, at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St. in Byron, IL.
