Darrell Anderson Obituary

Darrell James Anderson passed on to be with his Lord Jesus in Ruidoso,

Friday, September 14, at 10:30 A.M. at Forest Lawn Cemetery followed
by a luncheon at Darrell and Ann's home in Alto for family and
friends.

After growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, Charleston, WV, and Pittsburg,
PA, Darrell graduated from Memorial High School in Houston, Texas. He
attended Lamar University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in
Music Education. Darrell married Ann on July 18, 1969 in Beaumont,
TX. Together they went to Sam Houston State University where Darrell
received his Master's Degree in Music. In 1970, he and Ann moved to
Baytown, TX where he was head band director at Baytown Junior High for
four years. The following seven years 1974-1981, he was assistant and
then head band director at Stroman High School in Victoria, TX as well
as a percussionist in the Victoria Symphony and percussion instructor
at the University of Houston in Victoria. For the next 21 years he
was head band director at McAllen High School in McAllen, TX, where
his band received Sweepstakes First Divisions for 16 consecutive
years. In addition, he was Region Band Chairman, chairman of the City
of Palms Band Contest and Pigskin Jubilee Band Contest for the Rio
Grand Valley for 21 years. His bands performed at Disney World 5
times, marched in the inaugural parade for Governor George Bush and
won the Ovation Music Festival New Orleans in 2001. He also served
the Lord as a Deacon and Choir Director at Calvary Baptist Church in
McAllen. In 2002, he and his wife Ann moved to Ruidoso where he
became editor in the family business TRN Music Publisher, Inc. In
2004, he was inducted as an Associate Member into the American Band
Masters Association.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann, of Ruidoso, three sons,
Chris, Peter and his wife Melissa, and Matthew and his wife Rachel and
six grandchildren Joshua, Hannah, Sarah, Noah, Ethan and Elise. In

Proud to say he was MY band director. RIP Mr. Anderson. You had the patience of a saint and we tried that patience regularly. May the peace of Jesus Christ be with your family. What a concert in heaven.

May the words at Isaiah 61:1, 2 prove to be comforting to you. God will bind up the broken hearted... and comfort all who mourn.
