Miriam Abrahamovich Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Miriam Abrahamovich, 83, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011, at the Mountain View Center in Rutland, Vt. She was born November 24, 1928, in Springfield, Vt., the daughter of Guy O. and Ellen (Davis) Wescott. She attended Springfield schools and graduated from Springfield High School class of 1946.

She was married to Michael Abrahamovich on August 7, 1948, in Springfield, Vt. He predeceased her on January 31, 2005.

Miriam was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Vt.; a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church UCC and a longtime member of the church choir; a member of the Quota Club, the Rebekahs Columbia #21, the Secretaries Club, the Christmas Club Girls, who were very special to her, and the VFW Post 771 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was employed as executive secretary at the Fellows Gear Shaper, the Hartness House Inn and at Springfield Local Telephone Co. as executive secretary to Mr. Wheeler, retiring from Contel after many years of service.

Miriam enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Alan Abrahamovich and his wife Valerie of Lexington, Mass.; one daughter, Eileen Munger and her husband Craig of Benson, Vt.; grandchildren, Brent and Amy Munger, Krista and Jerod Glover, Zachary and Lindsey Munger, Benjamin Abrahamovich, Dennis and Sheila Carter, Alexei and Gita Carter; great-grandchildren, Laura Glover, Emily Glover, Sarah Glover, Grady Glover, Elizabeth Munger, Amelia Munger, Lincoln Munger, Gage Carter, Dylan and Drew Carter and Sarah and Robert Carter; also by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Guy and Ellen Wescott; by one brother, Gordon Wescott; and by one sister, Dorothy Dutton.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the First Congregational Church UCC Springfield, Vt. The Rev. Christine Boardman, interim pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, Vt.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Ronald McDonald House Charity, 139 South Lake Ave., Albany, NY 12208; or to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vt.
