Robert R. Neary

Robert Richard Neary, 67, of Rutland, died Sept. 3, 2010, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born Sept. 17, 1942, in Rutland, the son of Richard and Helen (Hood) Neary, and attended Rutland schools.

He established an auto body mechanical service garage in Rutland and then, for more than 35 years, was employed as a mechanic and did auto body work for Stewart A. Smith Co. and then Smith Buick, Pontiac, GMC until retiring at age 62.

Mr. Neary loved classic cars and was a founding member of Rutland Area Vehicle Enthusiasts (RAVE).

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Wilder, and a son, Chris Wilder; two sisters, Susan Miglorie of Conway, S.C., and Kathy Dahlstrom of Barbersville, Va.; two brothers, David Neary of Hyland Heights, Ky., and Thomas Neary of North Clarendon; his companion of 33 years, Joan Lee of Rutland; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral service.

The graveside service is pending for Monday, Sept. 20, in Hillside Cemetery in Castleton.
