Ruth Granger Obituary

THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Ruth N. Granger, 82, who died Sunday, 12 January 2014, moved from Annapolis, MD, to The Villages in 1998.

She was a prolific artist, working in oil paints on huge canvases, winning numerous awards in juried exhibits, among which was "Best Maryland Artist," out of over 300 artists, including first place and best in show. Her talent resulted in accepting commissioned art work, selling more than 100 canvases.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Dr. Robert A. Granger, Professor Emeritus of the U.S. Naval Academy; giving birth to a son, Eric Carl Granger of Annapolis, MD, and a daughter, Erin Dulski Morrison, who died of cancer a year ago. She is survived by her two granddaughters, Amber Dulski Lasek of Columbia, MD, and Alexandra Morrison of Lancaster, PA. She has three siblings, Mary Landon of Rutland, VT, Robert Nickerson and Carl Nickerson of Rutland, VT.

She and her husband did extensive traveling in Europe, living in Switzerland, Saudi Arabia for two years, Belgium and England, and at various universities such as Yale, Pomona College and Cambridge. She was noted for her beautiful smile, displaying her kindness toward all who knew her. She was a terrific horse rider.

She is survived by her son, Eric Granger of Annapolis, MD, her husband, Dr. Robert A. Granger of The Villages, and two granddaughters.
