Albert "Al" Clarence Torres
December 9, 1928 - June 23, 2021
Sacramento, California - Al Torres passed away at the age of 92 with his loving family by his side. He was the 5th of 6 brothers and is survived by his youngest brother Henry V. Torres (Ruth), many nieces and nephews, and his loving companion Fumiko Marshall.
Albert grew up in Oakland, CA and attended Prescott Junior High School, Oakland Technical High School and proudly graduated from UC Berkeley, California where he received a degree in Engineering in 1953. He went on to work for the State of California, Department of Water Resources for nearly 27 years where he worked on many projects related to California power and pumping plants. He retired in 1984.
Al spent over 20 years selflessly volunteering for the County of Sacramento, Department of Health and Human Services, Senior and Adult Services. He received many awards and certificates of appreciation for his outstanding services including a County Board of Supervisors Resolution and Recognition from the California State Senate. Al was proud to oversee the Gifts from the Heart Program, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and he worked as Transportation Coordinator for delivery to more than 2000 seniors having personally delivered more than 200 gifts during the holidays. Al spent his later years traveling around the world with Fumiko and enjoying his senior years.
Per his wishes, Al's ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony in Bodega Bay, CA in October, 2021.
