Citrus Heights, California - He is survived by his sister Marie Hughes, brother Albert Failla, his children: Philip Failla, Barbara Failla, Catherine Failla, and his partner Carla Goughnour. A private Celebration of Life will be held per his wishes.
Andy loved life. He enjoyed woodworking, handyman projects, gardening, black powder rifles, aviation, red wine, good bread, trips to see family, and visiting any historic town.
He was a caring and genuine "old school" Italian man.

Andy was a life changer for me. It's as simple as that. He hired me at ESL Inc. in 1974, in spite of the fact that I was non-degreed, had never seen a computer, and I had very little relevant experience. He saw something in me, and often guided me in my professional development.
At ESL, I met my wife, made a multitude of supportive colleagues, made many friends for life, and discovered my love for the physical sciences. This budding interest developed into a 34 year career teaching Physics and Chemistry at El Cerrito High School. My life wouldn't be the same without Andy's influence.
I saw him yearly at the IDIMS reunions, and visited him twice in Citrus Heights. I spoke with him during the pandemic, and was looking forward to visiting in person again. I am so sorry that I won't see him again.
Andy was one of the most genuinely caring people I have had the honor to know. I will miss the deep conversations we used to have, and I will miss his ready sense of humor.
My condolences to his family and all his many friends. I'm sure you are all as grateful as I am to have known him.

Andy was a wonderful human being who was always ready to help anyone. We worked in the same company for many years and remained friends after he retired. We will all miss his humor and friendship. RIP Andy.
