Arnulfo Sanchez Obituary

Arnulfo "Arnie" Sanchez
May 8, 1930 - August 27, 2021
Cameron Park, California - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Arnulfo "Arnold" Sanchez. He suffered a stroke from which he didn't recover.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Pilar and Geneveva Sanchez (both deceased). He started working to help support the family at the age of 4. The family moved to Sacramento when he was 14. He graduated from Sacramento High in 1949. He started working for DMV as a Junior Clerk when he was 22. He was able to work his way up to the position of Senior Special Investigator and worked in that position until retiring at the age of 55.
Arnold was preceded in death by his sibling, Consuelo Torres; children, Armand Sanchez, Arnold "Chooch" Sanchez; and one nephew.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Sherry Sanchez; his siblings, which he adored, Paul Sanchez, Petra and Bub Sullivan; his children, who meant the world to him, Janice "Cookie" Jackson, Jinger (Chuck) Dodd, Alan (Alison) Sanchez, Sr., Terri (Jesse) Hartley, Carla Boyett; grandchildren, the apple of his eye: Brandon, Justin, Yulonda, Derek, Stephan, Alan Jr., Erik, Jeffery, Anna, Sydney, Kendall, Jonah, Micah, Natalie, Jack, Michael and Autumn. He was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren. Last but not least, his 5 nephews (one predeceased him) who he talked about with love and pride.
He believed taking care of yourself came first. "Health above all" was one of his greatest sayings. He took it upon himself to care about everyone elses health too!!! He was proud of the fact that "he could still do things my grandsons can't do". Singing was as important as breathing, especially singing with his family. Listening to his little sis play the piano brought him so much joy. His family and friends were the treasure of his life.
A Celebration of his Life (Volleyball of course) will be held on his birthday, May 8, 2022, Lord willing.

I just learned of Arnie's passing and, though I hadn't seen him in 40 years, it hurt my heart. He was our volleyball coach while I worked at DMV in the 70's and 80's. He looked the same in his pix as when I knew him, only with gray hair! My deepest condolences to his loving wife and family.

My prayers and condolences to the family of Arnulfo "Arnie" Sanchez. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Sanchez many years ago when Sacramento Native Tommy Kono came for a visit. I arranged for Mr. Tommy and my father and some other old-timer YMCA friends to go to lunch at Espanol Restaurant in Sacramento and took a photo of them. I had an opportunity that day to meet and converse with Mr. Sanchez and found him a delightful and youthful man. He shared words of wisdom with me that day and many years later, he called me for more.

May perpetual light shine upon his soul and may his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace, Amen.
