Carl Gzyms Obituary

GZYMS, Carl Richard
11/18/32 - 6/1/09
Born in Schenectady, New York, moved to California in 1961. He was born to Alexander and Bernice Gzyms, who immigrated from Poland. Carl died suddenly in Elk Grove at the age of 76. Preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Tony Mastroianni, and grandson Roger Stewart. Survived by his loving wife of 34+ years, Marylyn; his children, Lori Pometta, Teri (Rich) Hallam, Jacki (Orrin) Joy, and Cheri Gzyms; grandchildren, Kristopher Pometta, Kayla Stewart, Christina Gritsch and Noah Hallam; twin brother Alexander (Irene); sister Teresa Mastroianni; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Carl served in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He received his Bachelors Degree and worked for the State of California for 25 years. He retired in 1986 to play golf with his longtime friends, Will and Fred Deguchi, and bowled in 3 leagues. He was known for his dry sense of humor, his quirkiness, and his love of bright colors. Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He had a huge heart and will be greatly missed by all. No services will be held.

Tomorrow (11/18) would have been my Dad's birthday. This will be the first year that we don't have him to wish a Happy Birthday too. He is missed so deeply! His twin brother, Al, will be in my thoughts and prayers though hoping that he has a peaceful Birthday.

Our 35th anniversary, October 11, has passed. I did celebrate the day with loving friends Bill and Ag Deguchi and Carol Thomas. He is in my thoughts everyday and I miss him terribly.

Marylyn, I am sorry for your loss. Carl was the man who ran Admin. for many years. He was one of the few people who said what was on his mind regardless of political correctness. I enjoyed working for him when he was there. Please forward my sympathy to the entire family
